For a limited time, our locally harvested Cottonwood Bud Salve is here!
One of my favorite things about herbalism is how connected it keeps us to the seasons. Certain plants only offer themselves for a brief window each year, and when they do, it feels like receiving a gift.
This month I'm excited to share a limited batch of our Cottonwood Bud Salve, made from locally harvested Cottonwood and Poplar buds gathered exclusively for Em's Herbals. Traditionally known as Balm of Gilead, Cottonwood Bud has long been treasured for supporting sore muscles, dry skin, minor scrapes, and everyday aches and stiffness.
The scent alone is enough to make me smile. Warm, resinous, and deeply comforting, it smells like spring in the Pacific Northwest captured in a jar. Because these buds can only be harvested during a short seasonal window, we only make a small batch each year—and once it's gone, it's gone.

We also recently received a beautiful supply of Wild Harvested Arnica cordifolia (Heartleaf Arnica) from Oregon—just one state south of our home here in Washington. This native mountain herb has a long history of use in infused oils, salves, and other topical preparations designed to support the body's natural recovery process after physical activity, bumps, bruises, and everyday wear and tear.
I'm always grateful when we're able to source high-quality botanicals from our own corner of the country, and this Arnica is truly something special.
As always, thank you for supporting small-batch herbalism, local harvesters, and the plants that make this work possible.
Wishing you a healthy, joyful, and herb-filled June.
With love,
Emily
Em’s Herbals 🌿✨
Spring has fully arrived here, and everywhere we look the world is waking back up. Flowers are blooming, herbs are stretching toward the sun, and many of the local farms we work with are beginning their fresh seasonal harvests.
A recent migraine, and a soothing warm shower reminded me that healing doesn’t always have to be complicated. Sometimes the most powerful support is also the most accessible.
When the world feels like it’s moving at full speed, many people look for small daily rituals that bring them back to center. For centuries, herbs have played that role — not as magic fixes, but as gentle plant allies that support rest, resilience, and balance.
