Wintergreen (Gaultheria procumbens) Essential Oil

Description

INDIA. Wintergreen (Gaultheria procumbens) Essential Oil, Steam Distilled

Wintergreen is well-known as a popular flavoring for chewing gum and candy. Its fragrance is similar to Birch and Peppermint, crisp, sweet, and woody. The essential oil is considered a top to middle note for aroma blending purposes.

This oil is very high in methyl salicylate, which has an anti-inflammatory and pain relieving effect. It has also been used to help with cold symptoms, digestive issues, and also appears to be potentially useful in repelling wasps.

Our essential oils are sold in amber glass bottles with a dropper orifice for drop-by-drop administration. Do not ingest essential oils unless under the guidance of a licensed health care practitioner or experienced aromatherapist. Essential oils should always be diluted in a carrier oil before being applied to the skin. (Some examples of carrier oils: Jojoba, Sunflower, Grapeseed, Rosehip Seed, Castor, and Avocado; gently liquified Coconut Oil, Shea, or Cocoa Butter can also work for creating thicker body care products.) Always test the diluted essential oil on a small patch of skin before applying more widely.

Maximum recommended dilution for adults: 2.4% (approximately 5 drops per 2 teaspoons of carrier oil). Use Wintergreen in moderation, and avoid it during pregnancy and breastfeeding. This is one of a few essential oils that are unsafe for dogs.
