Thyme (Thymus vulgaris) Essential Oil

Description

FRANCE. Thyme (Thymus vulgaris) Essential Oil, Steam Distilled, Organic

Thyme is a very pungent, strong herb with a warm, spicy fragrance that has long been recognized for its antimicrobial, antiviral, and anti-parasitic properties. For blending purposes, the essential oil is considered a middle note.

Thyme Oil is often used in antiseptic mouthwashes, toothpastes, hand sanitizers, and in anti-fungal products. A Polish study testing it against 120 strains of bacteria isolated from patients with oral cavity, respiratory, and genitourinary infections showed strong activity against all, including antibiotic resistant strains.

Thyme essential oil is also anti-inflammatory and antispasmodic. It has been given to soothe muscle aches, clear congestion, and stimulate circulation. It may help regulate hormone-related issues like dysmenorrhea, as it interacts with both estrogen and progesterone receptors. Animal experiments show an anti-anxiety effect produced by Thyme extract.

Our essential oils are sold in amber glass bottles with a dropper orifice for drop-by-drop administration. Do not ingest essential oils unless under the guidance of a licensed health care practitioner or experienced aromatherapist. Essential oils should always be diluted in a carrier oil before being applied to the skin. (Some examples of carrier oils: Jojoba, Sunflower, Grapeseed, Rosehip Seed, Castor, and Avocado; gently liquified Coconut Oil, Shea, or Cocoa Butter can also work for creating thicker body care products.) Always test the diluted essential oil on a small patch of skin before applying more widely.

Maximum recommended dilution for adults: 1% (approximately 1 drops per teaspoon of carrier oil). Do not use in baths.
