Eucalyptus, "Blue" (E. globulus), Essential Oil

CHINA.  Eucalyptus, "Blue" (E. globulus) Essential Oil

Common Names: Eucalyptus, Tasmanian Blue Gum, Southern Blue-gum, Blue Gum

Family: Myrtle

Eucalyptus globulus is the very large species of Eucalyptus tree with shedding strips of bark, familiar to many of us from the extensive plantings of the trees in California, and in other Mediterranean climates in Europe, South Africa, New Zealand, and the Caucasus, and at higher altitudes in some tropical locations. Its original distribution was confined to small areas of southernmost Australia and northern Tasmania.

Traditionally Eucalyptus scent has been used for decongestant and uplifting properties. This is a favorite for humidifiers when kids have congestion. Note, the color of this oil is not blue.

Our essential oils are sold in amber glass bottles with a dropper orifice for drop-by-drop administration. Do not ingest essential oils unless under the guidance of a licensed health care practitioner or experienced aromatherapist. Essential oils should always be diluted in a carrier oil before being applied to the skin. (Some examples of carrier oils: Jojoba, Sunflower, Grapeseed, Rosehip Seed, Castor, and Avocado; gently liquified Coconut Oil, Shea, or Cocoa Butter can also work for creating thicker body care products.) Always test the diluted essential oil on a small patch of skin before applying more widely.

Maximum recommended dilution for topical use on adults: 3% (three drops per teaspoon of carrier oil). Not recommended for use during pregnancy.
