Australia. Tea Tree (Melaleuca alternifolia) Essential Oil, Organic
Tea Tree essential oil has a scent that is described as medicinal, fresh, woody, and herbaceous. It is considered a middle note for blending purposes.
Tea Tree is one of the best known oils for treating infections: bacterial and fungal (including candida, athlete’s foot, and toxic mold growing in homes). Its powerful disinfecting action can help with wound healing, bad breath and tooth decay, body odor, toenail fungus, warts, and more. Its anti-inflammatory properties make it useful for skin conditions such as acne, eczema and psoriasis, as well as itchy scalp and dandruff, sunburn, and insect bites. It repels insects, and acts strongly against insect pests including head lice, mites, and scabies.
Our essential oils are sold in amber glass bottles with a dropper orifice for drop-by-drop administration. Do not ingest essential oils unless under the guidance of a licensed health care practitioner or experienced aromatherapist. Essential oils should always be diluted in a carrier oil before being applied to the skin. (Some examples of carrier oils: Jojoba, Sunflower, Grapeseed, Rosehip Seed, Castor, and Avocado; gently liquified Coconut Oil, Shea, or Cocoa Butter can also work for creating thicker body care products.) Always test the diluted essential oil on a small patch of skin before applying more widely.
Maximum recommended dilution for adults: 15% (15 drops per teaspoon of carrier oil). May cause dermatitis in some sensitive people; tolerance to this oil varies widely, as a few people are highly sensitive to it, and others use it routinely at 50% or higher dilutions. Be careful not to swallow Tea Tree oil when using it for oral health, as it should never be ingested. Tea Tree oil has a relatively short shelf life and should be replaced within 1-2 years.
