Myrrh essential oil has a distinctive smoky, earthy, bitter/sweet fragrance. For blending purposes it is considered a base note.

Myrrh is renowned for its disinfecting, antimicrobial, and wound-healing properties. It is said to relieve stress and anxiety, promoting feelings of trust, safety, and attachment, and to ease nausea, allergy symptoms, and nasal congestion. It carries traditional associations with prayer and meditation, and it has been used since ancient times to scent annointing oil, by itself or along with Frankincense and other botanicals. Many oral health products contain either the essential oil or powdered Myrrh resin.

Our essential oils are sold in amber glass bottles with a dropper orifice for drop-by-drop administration. Do not ingest essential oils unless under the guidance of a licensed health care practitioner or experienced aromatherapist. Essential oils should always be diluted in a carrier oil before being applied to the skin. (Some examples of carrier oils: Jojoba, Sunflower, Grapeseed, Rosehip Seed, Castor, and Avocado; gently liquified Coconut Oil, Shea, or Cocoa Butter can also work for creating thicker body care products.) Always test the diluted essential oil on a small patch of skin before applying more widely.

Maximum recommended dilution for adults topical use: 1% (one drop per teaspoon of carrier oil). Myrrh essential oil should be avoided during pregnancy and lactation.
