Marshmallow root is a gentle, mild to neutral tasting herb that can afford great benefit to the intestinal tract. Marshmallow is mucilaginous, and can coat the inside of the digestive tract while also being rich in mucopolysaccharides. Mucopolysaccharides help feed the beneficial bacteria in the gut, promoting and supporting the gut biome.
The best way to infuse Marshmallow root for its best benefit in tea is in cold water. This brings out the long chain sugars that cause the demulcent, or coating effect. This can be helpful with sore throats. Marshmallow if found in our Winter Defense Tea to help with cold and flu season.
Marshmallow infused into to glycerine is also extremely helpful in combating ulcer pain. A half of a teaspoon taken can provide almost immediate relief in most cases.
