St. John's Wort essential oil has a fragrance described as soft, sweet, and earthy. It is considered a middle or base note for blending purposes.

Like other preparations from this herb, the essential oil is used to treat pain and inflammation affecting the nerves and joints, and to aid wound healing. In aromatherapy, it is also considered a great ally for lifting the spirits, combating depression and discouragement, and for mood issues related to PMS or menopause.

Our essential oils are sold in amber glass bottles with a dropper orifice for drop-by-drop administration. Do not ingest essential oils unless under the guidance of a licensed health care practitioner or experienced aromatherapist. Essential oils should always be diluted in a carrier oil before being applied to the skin. (Some examples of carrier oils: Jojoba, Sunflower, Grapeseed, Rosehip Seed, Castor, and Avocado; gently liquified Coconut Oil, Shea, or Cocoa Butter can also work for creating thicker body care products.) Always test the diluted essential oil on a small patch of skin before applying more widely.

Maximum recommended dilution for adults: 3% (three drops per teaspoon of carrier oil). Best avoided during pregnancy.
